halloween weekend

at first we didn't have any plans for halloween, but at the last moment we decide to take zuki to a pumpkin patch. it was my first time so it was all new to me.

pumpkin vandalism...
'hey zuki, did you pick out a pumpkin?'

'no no, don't throw it on the ground'

THUD!

RUN!

'oh great pumpkin, give me a sign'

mad dancin skillz
(i don't know what's she doing)

'what mom, a girl can't go walkin around with her zipper open?'

you done yet abusing the pumpkins?

later, we figured we since we did one halloween thing, we might as well go all the way. so we dug up zuki's bear PJ that auntie from japan gave her, throw it on, and go hit the mall for some candy. i kinda didn't want to take her 'trick or treatin' cuz i didn't want to be THAT parent who takes their infant child out, knocks on the door and says 'trick or treat' (cuz the kid can't even speak) and knowing full well that zuki doesn't even eat candy, it would be for me. i don't want to be THAT guy, but we just did it for the pics and to see what the mall scene is like on halloween.
ROAR!

we kinda got to the mall late and most of the stores ran out of candy. she did get 1 piece of candy, a sticker, and some temporary tattoos. its good that they gave away stickers and tattoos cuz we don't feed zuki sugars yet.

at work, i sit in an office (what used to be a conference room but was converted into an office) with 2 to 3 other people. since there's no walls or cubical dividers, things get pretty friendly.
last year we decided to decorate the office and all dress up.
the theme...super mario. i was yoshi.
i made the head out of paper mache, and the body is a disposable coverall i dyed green.

we won the costume and cubical decorating contest.
our whole office was 1 level of super mario.

this year we decided on 'alice in wonderland'.
i was the white rabbit.
i made another paper mache head, and the clothes are from goodwill.
i made my desk into the rabbit's house.

once again, we won the costume and cubical decorating contest.

here's just some random pics...

quick post...
its fourth quarter for my company, which means the busiest time of the year.
we're getting ready for black fridays and xmas sales so i've been quite busy.
working late and lots of last minute rushes. same thing every year.

here's some quick pics...

mommy and zuki starting to dress alike

we have to go to my sister-in-law's wedding early next year, so zuki tried on a dress a friend gave to her. it made her look way too mature.

its not prom time yet. i haven't bought my gun.

silly o' zuki

hi all,
sorry for the delay. we've had a few projects that was keeping me busy.

some family and friends came down for 'zuki's belated birthday. the girls went out for lunch and left the guys alone to tend to the kids.

we took the kids to the hotel's pool to kill time.
i think it took too much out of 'zuki.

its been quite hot down here lately, so i decided to try out our own apartment's pool. the water was ice cold and i need some sun.

'zuki had a good time floating around.
daddy's bits was freezing.

when its hot and we have nothing to do, we like to go to ikea and take advantage of their free air conditioning. with a bonus, i got a 1/2 rack of ribs for 8 bucks and the mrs. got the pasta special.

'zuki, look this way.

open wide.

video
'zuki likes to feed herself. but after a while, she gets bored and likes to play with the food. she enjoys taking it out of the bowl and putting it back in.

recently, 'zuki likes to sit in boxes. go figure.
kinda ironic since i work with cardboard.

i think she does her best reading in the box.
kinda like me on the toilet.

always actin silly

video
'zuki now can walk and she learned with a walker.
when she first started, she got so excited, she screams like a crazy woman.
(notice in the beginning of the clip, 'zuki swats my hand as to say "hey old man, i don't need any help")

'zuki birthday weekend
its hard to imagine that 1 year ago today, after 30+ hours of labor, at 9:11 am, 'zuki was born. here's her weekend breakdown...

saturday...
we had 'parent and me' water fun at the local college's pool. its only her second class, but this time she had to wear a swimming cap and googles (i don't know why since she never got water on her head or her eyes). the cap does not do her justice.
happy baby before water...

...not so happy baby in water.

someone is not having a good time...
...prob cuz of the cap.

after swimming (and crying), we had lunch and decided to give 'zuki her birthday cake early since we were going to be busy on sunday. i think she was full from lunch cuz she didn't want to try the cake.
happy baby likes candle. not so sure about new food.

'that thing is not going in my mouth'

'i said, its not going in!'

it went in...and came back out.

later on at dinner time, we tried the cake again and she liked it. maybe she was full. also my wife tricked me and gave me a piece of the cake. after i had ate it, she told me she made it with her breastmilk. nice. maybe that's why it came back out of 'zuki.

later we took a stroll at the marina and watched some ships sail.

sunday...
happy birthday 'zuki!
you're 1 now.
good morning birthday girl

start your birthday morning with a bump to the head

we were invited to a combined birthday party of a 'mommy and me' group my wife goes to. of course it was kinda weird since the party wasn't for 'zuki (and it's actually her birthday on that day), and all the 'birthday kids' birthdays had passed or was coming up. the party was at gymboree, which is a whole new thing to me. its basically a play room and the employee there helps with physical activites for the kids.

princess for the day

daddy's litle princess

1 ball...

...2 balls...
...where'd the orange one go?

'watch where you stick that finger boy, or i'll bite it off'

after we were done, i think i was more tired than 'zuki. we went home and i took a nap.
'zuki was a trooper. after about one and a half hour into the party, the babies got tired and started to cry. but 'zuki didn't cry. she toughed it out to the very end. happy birthday 'zuki.

Sorry for the long delay.
I was sick for a while, went to Japan, house hunting, and just busy with the fam.
I'll just post some pics until I have time to write about the Japan trip.
and here we go...

nice cheesy smile. maybe someone's got a present in their diaper.

'am i happy or am i going to cry? i don't know.'

mastermind at work thinking of a way to takeover the world.

'...i got it! kill them all with dirty stinky diapers!'

'i found a new talent...sticking out my tongue'

'uh huh, uh huh, uh huh....what did you say?'

'i don't know what i'm happy about'

'don't leave me alone. i have separation issues

'i can stand. but i can't dress myself'

'whaaat....'

'who woke me up?'

'what do you mean there's no more food left?'

'i'm a little dancer. now where's the floor?'

'i don't think i like hats'

quick update...

hi folks, sorry i haven't blogged recently.
'zuki has been sick, and she's also teething. a nice one two combo.
i'll just post some pics and give a quick update...

a couple of weekends ago, we woke up early and went to ikea for the $20 comforter sale. fortunately, ikea knows what they're doing when they put on a crazy sale (unlike walmart's 2008 black friday, which one person was killed). employees handed out coupons which guaranteed you a comforter till 1pm (we got 2 king size). and on top of that, they gave out free breakfast till 11am. the line was crazy long and snaked around, but we went through it pretty fast. i guess word got out about the free food so there were homeless people in line. much props to ikea, they know how to treat their peeps. the dinning room got so packed that we ended up eating breakfast at a kid's table.

'zuki's hair has gotten long enough that we can put hairclips and rubberbands in it. but from the looks of it, maybe we'll skip the ponytails.
here's zuki, happy as can be...until the camera is turned off.
(someone loves camera time)

and lastly, here's some pics of zuki just after taking a nap in the 'baby backpack'.
